Double Pointed Needles for Knitting in the Round
I love knitting on double pointed needles. Maybe because I love knitting socks. But Knitting in the round just works for me. Baby Booties or little baby hats are very fun to make. DPN knitting is not complicated. There is just one rule that must be obeyed when DPN knitting, You must not allow your thread to get twisted. When you obey this rule the rest is easy.
And Like all our previous conversations knitting for babies is very rewarding in many different ways, but mainly because it is easy to take along and it is quickly finished. You have to agree it is so empowering to actually finish a project. Most knitters have a half dozen projects started and have a little knitter’s guilt for not finishing then before starting another “must do” project.
But with knitting for baby, you can luxuriate in the pleasure of finishing a project. And remember my motto, Have knitted baby gifts completed and waiting for the next baby. You know how they just keep coming along, and when they do, You’re ready! It is such a win-win proposition. I love knitting for babies.
So here is some help if you are a little rusty on double pointed needle knitting.

Here is a quick video that demonstrates knitting with double pointed needles. You will see how doable this is. The video does assume you have some knowledge as to how to cast on to a needle. But the beauty of watching a tube grow as you knit is just a joy. Have a look here.

An Amazing Revelation! Baby Yarn For Me!
It occurred to me one of the reasons I love knitting for babies is the yarn. I mean really have you thought about this? It is soooooooo soft and squishy, hold it next to your cheek and you feel calm and gentle and you think babies. So what am I saying here, we all know baby yarn is great. Well here it is, wait for it…
Baby yarn should be used for us adults too!!
Yes! I mean it. What stops us from using this incredible yarn for some little something for ourselves? Oh I am not suggesting you use it to knit an ensemble. We know that it would take dozens of balls of yarn to make an adult outfit. But it would not take too much to make a scarf, can you imagine that up against your neck and face on a cold wintry day? I can.
So I had to try it. A few posts ago, I told you about that phenomenal deal I got on some fabulous baby yarn on my day trip. It was fantastic! But I didn’t really have a plan for the yarn. I’m sure you have done that yourselves. You see a beautiful color, or wonderful texture and you impulse buy it or the contingency plan that you will, of course, have an opportunity to use it eventually.
So I decided to use it for me. I made one of those little neck kerchiefs that really hug your face, one tail of the scarf slides into a loop on the other end and it snugs up to your chin. I love it. And it is so SOFT!
